Genesis Medical Center, Davenport has received an “A” rating, the best safety rating in the Quad Cities, from Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. This national honor recognizes Genesis’ achievements in protecting patients from harm and error in the hospital.
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national monitoring organization, assigns an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” or “F” rating to hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, and the systems hospitals have in place to prevent damage.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital assessment program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and patient harm. The rating system is peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Notes are updated twice a year, in the fall and in the spring.
“An ‘A’ safety rating is a tremendous achievement, one of which your community should be extremely proud,” said Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I thank the management and staff of Genesis Medical Center for their commitment to putting patients and their safety first, especially in these difficult times. “
“Achieving the highest grade amid the worst public health crisis in over 100 years is a tribute to the care, compassion and dedication of the medical providers and staff at Genesis,” said Jordan Voigt, president of Genesis Medical Center, Davenport. “The disruption created by the coronavirus has not disrupted the ongoing goal of providing the safest possible care to patients. “
