Murfreesboro Medical Clinic & SurgiCenter is proud to announce the addition of Austin Mackens, MD

MURFRESBORO, TENN. – Austin Mackens, MD is a board-certified family physician who now practices at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic (MMC). A native of Murfreesboro, Dr. Mackens graduated with honors from Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee, where he received a BA in biology with a minor in biochemistry. He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in 2010 and completed his family medicine residency at the University of Tennessee at Jackson in 2013.

Dr. Mackens is thrilled to be back home providing care to patients in Rutherford County and surrounding communities. Joey Peay, Managing Director of MMC, notes, “We are grateful to be able to add Dr. Mackens to our Internal/Family Medicine department. As Rutherford County and surrounding areas continue to grow, it is essential that MMC add quality physicians, like Dr. Mackens, to help meet the growing demands for primary care physicians in this community. His experiences working in emergency medicine for several years will give him unique insight into how to help his patients seek out and maintain a healthy lifestyle with good habits that will hopefully help them avoid emergencies. in the future.

Dr. Mackens and his wife, Jessica Anderson Mackens (who is also from Murfreesboro), have three children: Abigail, Maddie Kate and Everett. They attend Providence Christian Academy where Ms. Mackens is also a high school math teacher. The family attends World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro. Dr. Mackens is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting, fishing and camping. He also loves sports and played rugby at the University of Tennessee and football at Maryville College. Dr. Mackens and his family are keen on travel and adventure and plan to visit all 50 states before the kids leave for college.
