Proposed by PeaceHealth

PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center received an “A” in the fall 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, an award recognizing the achievements of PeaceHealth St. Joseph in protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent, national watchdog organization committed to healthcare quality and safety. The safety rating assigns an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” or “F” grade to all general hospitals in the country and is updated every six months. It is based on a hospital’s performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harm to the patients it cares for.

“Providing safe, high-quality care is a cornerstone of our mission,” said Sudhakar Karlapudi, MD, chief medical officer and patient safety manager for PeaceHealth’s Northwest Network, which includes PeaceHealth St. Joseph. . “I am very proud to work with remarkable people who, even when faced with the challenges of a pandemic, have remained steadfast in our commitment to the community. Our recognition by Leapfrog is objective validation of the exceptional care provided every day.

Developed under the direction of a national expert committee, The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 27 publicly available hospital safety data metrics to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute care hospitals twice a year. The Hospital Safety Grade methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
