Remote Area Medical, a Knoxville, TN-based nonprofit organization that runs pop-up clinics providing free dental, vision, and medical care to those in need, is looking for volunteer medical, dental, and vision professionals and staff of general support for his September 10th. 11 planned clinic in Des Moines. The two-day clinic will be held at the Eastview Community Center in Des Moines, in conjunction with Des Moines Metro Adventist Radio (KPOG) and Des Moines Seventh-day Adventist Churches. Founded in 1985, RAM has treated more than 888,000 people with $181.5 million in free healthcare and veterinary services. Services available at the free RAM clinic include dental cleanings, dental fillings, dental extractions, dental x-rays, eye exams, glaucoma tests, eyeglass prescriptions, eyeglasses made on site, eye exams, women’s health and general medical examinations. Free take-home colon cancer screening test kits will also be available. The nonprofit organization held its first pop-up clinic in Des Moines in July 2021; this clinic served 148 patients, providing free dental, vision and medical care, with 163 volunteers working the two-day event.
