Saanich Medical Clinic is on the verge of closing, now that the building has been sold – Saanich News

A medical clinic in Saanich closes in early summer.

According to a letter sent to patients by a general practitioner at the clinic, Dr Peter Vizsolyi, the Cook and Quadra Medical Clinic building has been sold and the office will close on June 10.

“After almost four decades, my plan was to retire from daily family medicine with the sale of the building,” Vizsolyi wrote. As no doctor has yet been found to take over his list of patients, he plans to work at the Burnside Medical Clinic after the closure until at least October, while efforts continue to find a replacement doctor.

Vizsolyi said patient records will remain at the Burnside Clinic after October, regardless of whether another doctor takes over their practice.

For patients unable to find another physician, he recommended those living on the Saanich Peninsula (Royal Oak/Cordova Bay, Prospect Lake, Central Saanich, North Saanich, Sidney) or western communities (Colwood, Langford /Highlands, Esquimalt/View Royal, Metchosin, Sooke, Juan de Fuca Coast) can enroll in the Health Connect registry to ensure they are on a primary care provider’s waitlist.

No registry is active yet for Victoria, Oak Bay and elsewhere in Saanich, but HealthLinkBC says on its website that it will be available soon, once a Primary Care Network (PCN) is in place.

Other care options are available at walk-in clinics, urgent primary care centers, Island Sexual Health, Vancouver Island Women’s Clinic, Telus Health MyCare, and other virtual providers.
